Experience
I recently tutored high school and college age students in MS in algebra, which has been highly rewarding for both me and my students. In 2010-2011, I was a National Science Foundation GK-12 INSPIRE Fellow which gave me the opportunity to create and teach science and math lesson plans to high school students--that was a blast, especially blowing things up in chemistry class. I've taken up to Calculus IV in math, Multivariate ANOVA in statistics, and 8000 level graduate courses in Chemistry and Geoscience; however, my curiosity has also taken me beyond these subjects, and I strive to learn every day. I am passionate about teaching and enjoy working with young adults, especially in math and science. I know that most of the time students are capable in these subjects, but have often acquired fear and anxiety from family, friends, and former teachers. I see it as my goal not only to present science and math material clearly and patiently, but to recognize when my students are struggling, to come up with creative ways to help them overcome those struggles, and to inspire students to step up to the plate and go beyond what they thought was possible.

Personally, I'm in to technology and politics, I enjoy a good debate, I understand personality types and learning styles, I like to stay active and enjoy board games (have you heard of Settlers of Catan?--it is awesome), I married my best friend in 2007 and she's a creative genius, I enjoy reading science fiction (Ender's Game and Feed were both amazing), and I love hanging out and discussing life with my friends.
